SILRES BS 290 (SOLVENT-BASED STONE PROTECTION)

SILRES BS 290silane siloxane mixturewater repellent impregnationmineral surface primerhydrophobic impregnationconcrete waterproofingsolvent-free silicone concentrate

SILRES BS 290 is a solvent-free silicone concentrate based on a mixture of silane and siloxane. This product, which can be diluted with organic solvents, serves as a high-quality, general-purpose water repellent for the impregnation and priming of mineral and highly alkaline surfaces. After application to the surface, it reacts with atmospheric moisture or pore water to form its active component and releases alcohol. This significantly reduces the water absorption of the surface without clogging the pores, while maintaining high water vapor permeability.

Features and Benefits

  • Good penetration depth
  • High resistance to alkalis
  • Tack-free drying
  • Effective performance even on damp surfaces
  • Rapid development of water repellency
  • Does not clog pores, ensures high water vapor permeability

Areas of Application

  • Brick, all types of concrete and aerated concrete surfaces
  • Sand-lime brick and cement-based fiber boards
  • Mineral plasters, natural and artificial stones
  • Primer for mineral paints and exterior facade paints
  • Hydrophobic impregnation of new and existing buildings

Important Note: SILRES BS 290 is not suitable for making gypsum surfaces water repellent.

Application and Dilution Instructions

SILRES BS 290 should be used diluted with aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbons (e.g., White Spirit 130/175) at a weight ratio of 1:11 to 1:15. If contact with solvent-sensitive materials (expanded polystyrene, bitumen, etc.) is unavoidable, completely anhydrous alcohols (ethanol or 2-propanol) can be used at a ratio of 1:12. Application should be done by the flooding method, using a 'wet-on-wet' technique in at least two coats until the surface is saturated. Since the product reacts with airborne moisture, containers must be kept tightly closed. Due to its rapid curing, non-absorbent surfaces such as windows should be protected, and splashes should be cleaned immediately.
