VINNAPAS® 8031 H 25/1 (Water Repellent)
VINNAPAS® 8031 H 25/1 is a dispersible polymer powder with hydrophobic (water-repellent) characteristics, based on a vinyl chloride, ethylene, and vinyl laurate terpolymer, specifically formulated for dry-mix mortars. This special binder, belonging to the VINNAPAS® H product class, not only imparts excellent adhesion and flexibility to the hardened mortar but also provides a significant water-repellent effect. It is an ideal solution particularly for applications where reducing water absorption is critical.
Key Features and Benefits
- Strong Hydrophobic Effect: Permanently reduces water absorption of the mortar and provides water repellency.
- High-Performance Binder: When blended with inorganic binders, it increases adhesive strength, flexibility (deformability), and abrasion resistance.
- Excellent Workability: Has no negative effect on the rheology of the mortar; ensures low stickiness and easy workability.
- Safe Content: Produced without the use of organic solvents, plasticizers, and film-forming agents.
- Vapor Permeability: Does not impede water vapor transmission at common dosage rates, allowing the structure to breathe.
Application Areas
VINNAPAS® 8031 H 25/1 is suitable for general-purpose use and demonstrates superior performance particularly in the following areas:
- Tile and Ceramic Grouts
- Mineral-Based Renders and Coatings
- One-Component Cementitious Waterproofing Membranes
- Thin Repair Mortars (Skim Coats)

Processing and Storage Instructions
Mixing: In the production of ready-mix dry mortars, VINNAPAS® 8031 H 25/1 should be mixed with other dry components in suitable equipment. Excessive temperature increase during mixing can lead to lump formation due to the thermoplastic nature of the product; therefore, temperature control is important. Mechanical mixers are recommended when preparing the mortar. If mixing by hand, it is advisable to let the fresh mortar slake for 5 minutes and then mix again.
Storage: The product is sensitive to moisture. It should be stored in a cool and dry environment. At temperatures above 30°C, under pressure, or when exposed to moisture, the risk of blocking (lump formation) increases. It is recommended to consume the product within 6 months from the date of delivery.
For which types of mortars is VINNAPAS® 8031 H 25/1 suitable?
It is particularly suitable for grouts, exterior renders, and waterproofing membranes requiring water repellency.
What is the minimum film-forming temperature of the product?
The minimum film-forming temperature (MFFT) of this product is 0°C, which indicates that it can form a film even at low temperatures.
What is the storage period?
When stored under appropriate conditions (cool and dry), the shelf life of the product is approximately 6 months from the date of delivery.
